Rabbit anti APOBEC3B antibody recognizes DNA dC->dU-editing enzyme APOBEC3B, also known as phorbolin-1-related protein and phorbolin-2/3. It is a member of the APOBEC (apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-like) family of cytidine deaminases (
Kuong and Loeb 2013). APOBEC family members function as a part of the innate immune system inhibiting retroviruses by deamination of cytosine in nascent retroviral cDNA (
Harris and Liddament 2004). APOBEC3 proteins are divided into two groups: APOBEC3A, APOBEC3C, and APOBEC3H that contain one zinc-dependent cytidine deaminase domain and APOBEC3B, APOBEC3D, APOBEC3F, and APOBEC3G that contain two zinc-dependent cytidine deaminase domains (
LaRue et al. 2008). APOBEC3B is overexpressed in a wide spectrum of human cancers (
Zou et al. 2017).
