Stimulates glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes via the induction of glucose transporter SLC2A1/GLUT1 expression (but not SLC2A4/GLUT4 expression). Activity probably requires the presence of KLB. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli as a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 182 amino acids including N-terminal Methionin. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of NIH-3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells is 0.2 - 0.8 µg/ml in the presence of beta-Klotho.
