Stimulates glucose uptake in differentiated adipocytes via the induction of glucose transporter SLC2A1/GLUT1 expression (but not SLC2A4/GLUT4 expression). Activity requires the presence of KLB. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli as a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 181 amino acids. The amino acid sequence of the recombinant human FGF21 is 100% homologous to the amino acid sequence of the human FGF21 without signal sequence.
