The antibody reacts with the cellular adhesion molecule CD50 (ICAM-3). CD50 is a single chain polypeptide with a MW of 120 kD. The protein is heavily glycosylated and resistant to treatment with phosphatidylinositol phospholipase C, and therefore probably not PI-anchored to the membrane. The antibody was provisionally clustered as CDw50 in Vienna at the IV and as CD50 in Boston at the V international workshop on human leucocyte differentiation antigens.
