Glutathione (GSH) ethyl ester is a cell-permeable derivative of GSH (Item No. 10007461), a nucleophilic co-substrate to glutathione transferases.{25023} It increases mitochondrial GSH levels in C38 and IB3-1 epithelial lung cystic fibrosis cells when used at a concentration of 10 mM.{25025} GSH ethyl ester (10 mM) decreases reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and TNF-?-induced IL-8 secretion in IB3-1 cells. GSH ethyl increases mitochondrial complex I, also known as NADH dehydrogenase, function and reduces depolarization of the mitochondrial membrane potential in IB3-1 when used at concentrations of 10 mM and 1mM, respectively. It decreases lipid oxidation and ferroptosis in cystine-deficient PANC-1, AsPC-1, BxPC-3, and S2-013 pancreatic cancer cells.{59136} GSH ethyl ester increases the viability of irradiated human lymphoid cells when used at a concentration of 5 mM.{25023}
